Back to Maui, then back Home
Because of a flight change on their part, United let me modify our flights. I chose to add a day to the trip and make it an extra day in Maui. This turned an extremely long travel day into a couple of extra partial days in Maui and a much shorter trip time home.

Our flight from Kona arrives at the Kahului airport at 1:05 PM HAST (UTC -10). We'll pick up our luggage and head to Enterprise to get our car. At this point, we are about 36 hours before our flight back home, and we have access to a hotel room for about 18 hours of that time. The car provides, besides the obvious transportation, the additional benefit of a place to store our luggage during our short stay in Maui.​
