Our trip has evolved, for various reasons, to the point where we are spending the first week on Maui, the next two weeks on Hawaii (the big island), and then a final night back on Maui before we head back home.  We are also welcoming Brenda and possibly Jenny to share parts of our trip.  At this point, Brenda will meet us on Maui the day after we arrive, travel with us to Kona, and then fly back to Syracuse after 5 days on the big island.  Jenny has dibs on the last week we are on Hawaii (the big island).

   The first week we'll stay in an ocean side, second story condo just to the east of Maalaea harbor.  Our condo at the Milowai Resort has a beautiful view from our lanai of the east end of the harbor.  Whales can be spotted from the lanai and there's a small beach on the harbor where sea turtles are common.

  While on Maui, we plan to drive the road to Hana, visit the summit of Haleakala, visit the aquarium in Maalaea, and see the Banyon Tree in Lahaina.  We're also taking a whale watching cruise out of Maalaea.  Brenda and Nancy are flying to Oahu to visit Pearl Harbor and tour the Iolani Palace during the time we are on Maui.  I've included details of the assorted places we want to visit in the attached pages.

  After our first week, we'll fly to Kona, drive about 20 miles north, and stay at The Shores at Waikoloa Beach Resort on the upper west coast of Hawaii.  We've stayed in Waikoloa before and it's one of our favorite places on the west side of Hawaii.

  To be brief, while visiting Hawaii island we'll visit Volcanos National Park and lots of other places.  The island of Hawaii is fun for us because we love "taking a drive to see the sites" which works great on Hawaii!

  The last part of our trip is back on Maui.  I realized that the one-day return trip home starting in Waikoloa, flying from Kona to Maui, and then flying home that I had planned was going to be brutal.  I changed the trip to add a one night stay back in Maui.  This changed our brutal one-day trip to two partial vacation days back on Maui and a much shorter time in airports and planes during our trip back home.​​
